Netscape Navigator is the browser-only part of the Communicator package. Navigator offers extended access for signed Java applets, so you can approve or deny an applet's request. With support for Unicode, an international character-encoding standard that supports many languages, Navigator ensures that you can create or view pages that use characters from multiple languages. Navigator 4.06 added Smart Browsing, allowing you to enter keywords directly into the location bar and returning search results. Version 4.07 fine-tunes this feature by searching first for sites that use the keyword as a domain name, and defaulting to a search result only if none are found. It also adds instant link buttons to your personal toolbar, including those for AOL Instant Messenger, yellow and white pages, Netscape Netcenter's home page, and What's New and Cool info. Release notes state that this new version includes an initial fix for a JavaScript Cache privacy vulerabilty, and an update to Java Class files to resolve all currently known Year 2000 problems discovered by IBM. Other outside reports claim the JavaScript bug has not been fixed but that Netscape will be issuing a fix within the next two weeks. content_stop
