Stay Connected resumes broken connections automatically for all dial-up networking ISPs. Stay Connected has the option to specify multiple hosts with random or fixed intervals to maintain a connection. Host accesses have a choice of sequential, random, or dedicated access over a list of hosts. Hosts can be added/deleted according to user's preferences. Unlike programs that only ping the host to maintain a connection, Stay Connected uses up to 5 different protocols (HTTP, Echo, Discard, FTP, SMTP, and Time Server). In addition, it even has a user-defined port for users behind a firewall or gateway. Stay Connected is compatible with major ISPs, such as AOL 6 and below, CompuServe 2000, NetZero 3.1.2 and below, MSN, Prodigy and AT&T WorldNet.
