Delivery conditions

Delivery conditions

Customers are priority number 1 at Jumbo. We are therefore very careful in selecting our suppliers. We always ensure that we only offer the best products to our customers. These products must meet a number of conditions in relation to quality, sustainability, data quality and supply chain criteria. These are key preconditions for the collaboration between Jumbo and all its suppliers. Ensure you have carefully read the requirements below and that you meet the criteria to become a Jumbo supplier.

Quality and CSR

Conditions and certification
As a family-run business, Jumbo is right at the heart of society. This, for example, means that we offer our customers food-safe products while respecting people, animals and the environment.

We work hard on the continuous improvement of our products. As a supplier of our Jumbo private-label, it is therefore important that you meet our Jumbo quality, private-label and CSR conditions. These conditions are, for example, related to our requirements with regard to minimum certification for food and non-food products, fresh produce (potatoes, fruit and vegetables), flowers and plants and our specific requirements related to product and ingredient certification. To deliver products under the Jumbo private-label, the following requirements also apply:

  • The food production locations must be certified in accordance with a standard recognised by the Global Food Safety Initiative (GFSI).
  • The flower, plant, near-food and non-food products must be certified in accordance with the ‘Jumbo Protocol accepted standards’ (please request them).
  • All primary producers (potatoes, fruit, vegetables, pigs, chickens and farmed fish) must be GLOBALG.A.P. (the Worldwide Standard for Good Agricultural Practices) certified or must be certified through a scheme that is benchmarked by GLOBALG.A.P.
  • Jumbo must be in possession of the most recent GLOBALG.A.P. certificate.

Product and product specifications
As a supplier, you must fully complete the product specifications in the Jumbo product information system (Supply Chain SIM). Products must always comply with all the relevant and latest legislation and regulations. In the production information system, you should enter the full recipe/composition including all ingredients/materials, exact percentages and countries of origin as well as the full nutritional value and specifications. This information is important to ensure fast and efficient traceability in case of incidents.

Supply Chain

High product availability with the related high quality and freshness requirements are, together with an efficient supply chain, an essential part in the partnership with Jumbo. Jumbo therefore invests a lot in a robust and modern supply chain including the automation of our distribution centres and integrated forecasting, replenishment and transport planning system. We, for example, offer the option of reserving a time slot at our distribution centres by using our POCUS supplier portal. We offer flexibility when you are planning your delivery by using this tool. It also guarantees uniformity and transparency in the communication between the supplier, haulier, distribution centre and our replenishment department.

To ensure all Supply Chain processes run as smoothly as possible, we ask that you, as a supplier, link up to the applicable standards that can be found in our terms and conditions. In addition to the timely and full delivery of goods, it also concerns essential issues such as the correct Electronic Data Interchange (EDI) configuration of the ORDER, DESADV and INVOICE messages as well as the GS1 guidelines for delivering to our distribution centres.

Data

Together with you, we want to ensure we offer the correct assortment to our customers and that products are available at the right time to the customer, in our Jumbo supermarkets and on Jumbo.com. Each and every day! This is the only way to surpass customer expectations. Consistent and reliable item data forms the basis for this.

As you probably know, the goal of the food and pharmaceutical sectors is to have the exchange of item data take place completely paperless. A fully digitised process is only possible if all item data is registered and correct in the GS1 DAS item data pool.

GS1 DAS as the central source for product information
Jumbo has been using the GS1 DAS item data pool for some time now as a source of information about products we offer and will offer to the customer. This ensures we can quickly gain access to the correct product data. We therefore expect all our suppliers to deliver their item data through the GS1 DAS item data pool.

Joining and making data available through GS1 DAS also has advantages for you as a supplier:

  • You only need to enter the item data in GS1 DAS. This will ensure that all your buyers (including Jumbo) have your data available.
  • The quality of orders, deliveries, invoicing and shelf plans becomes better because all your buyers use the same standardised item data.
  • All label information is also used from the GS1 DAS database, in order to make correct information about your product available to our customers.
Digital content demands more data!
Digital content is becoming more and more important to our customers. It helps our customers through the entire customer journey; from finding out to using the products that they have bought. This digital content is being used during more and more touchpoints. In addition to the Jumbo app and Jumbo.com, we also have the Jumbo FoodCoach and Jumbo Extra’s apps were customers get inspired by content Jumbo offers. The right content is also becoming more and more important for the internal management of our processes. We are continuously searching for ways to further improve our product information for the customer and our internal organisation.
1. For all brands with the exception of the Jumbo brand

Delivery via GS1:
We are working on the realisation of the link with GS1. We have seen that the delivery of photography in GS1, in particular, lags far behind. We therefore want to expressly ask you to deliver your product information in GS1 in full and on time. To us, in full means that all product information including a photo is offered. For a timely processing of your items please provide the photo of your product directly when you upload your item in GS1. The faster the product data is provided correctly in GS1, the faster we can integrate the full GS1 information in our landscape.

If you want to find out more about GS1 and the guidelines, visit the GS1 website: www.gs1.nl.

Supply via Brandbank:
We want to emphasise that the product data and photography created by Nielsen Brandbank continues to be essential to display your products on Jumbo.com. The partnership with Nielsen Brandbank is required until further notice to ensure new products go live on the digital Jumbo platforms. For the Jumbo brand, you can supply a photo via Brandbank, but this is not a requirement.  We count on you continuing this partnership in order to provide us with your content on time and using the right quality.

If you want to find out more about Brandbank, visit the Brandbank website: www.brandbank.com.

2. For the Jumbo brand

Delivery via GS1, SIM and Brandbank:
For the Jumbo brand, please deliver all regular information via GS1 and SIM as you are used to.

A photo is needed for online. It can be delivered via GS1, but this is not a requirement. If you do not have a photo available, please send a sample to Brandbank. The sample should be sent to Brandbank immediately after becoming available in production to ensure the item can be processed on time. A good laboratory sample also meets the requirements for the photography, provided that the sample can be recognised by the customer ('final packaging'). The further enrichment of the product will then be dealt with in partnership between Brandbank and Jumbo.

If you want to find out more about GS1 and the guidelines, visit the GS1 website: www.gs1.nl.

Photography guidelines
The GS1 guidelines are sufficient to ensure your product is correctly displayed on Jumbo.com and/or the Jumbo app. For the best experience of your products for our customers, please find a few additional tips below:

  1. Try to avoid reflections as much as possible. You can do this, for example, by photographing products without their wrapping. If it concerns products in glass or transparent plastic, the correct lighting may contribute towards a better photo quality.
  2. Remove barcodes and/or promotional statements. Price communications may not be present either.
  3. Take a photo of the product as the customer also sees it on the shelf: completely visible and recognisable for the customer.
  4. Ensure no shadows are visible (where possible).
  5. Is taking a photo not possible? Use a virtual packshot if you have one. This is allowed.
  6. Ensure the background is transparent.
  7. By preference, do not use ‘hero images’. The customer must be able to recognise the product; unrealistic enlargements or other adjustments will lead to inconsistencies on the website. Optimising the packshot, however, is allowed.
